Hello Friends!
Happy Friday!
Are you a fan of banana pudding? I never was until I tried it at Magnolia Bakery in NYC.
Prior to the Pandemic, I was traveling to NYC at least once a year around the holidays for meetings and events. The first time I ever went to NYC, I was walking around Rockefeller Center and noticed a line that was wrapped around the corner for a bakery. I was not familiar with Magnolia Bakery at the time so after I went back to the hotel I Googled them and found out what the buzz was all about!
According to their website: “Magnolia Bakery is known and cherished for it’s classic American baked goods, all of which are baked by hand on the premises in small batches throughout the day. Magnolia Bakery has over 150 product offerings, including banana pudding, cakes, pies, muffins, cheesecakes, cookies, brownies and ice cream.”
I went back the next day to try out their banana pudding. It was one of the top rated items on Yelp at the time. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint and totally lived up to the hype and worth the wait!
The following year, I made sure I went to Magnolia Bakery when I returned to NYC. It wasn’t until I returned home that year when I realized there was one here in Los Angeles!
Now that I live here in Downtown LA, I’ve been trying to make it a thing to go once a month for their banana pudding and for their banana pudding flavor of the month.
So far, I’ve tried the Red Velvet Banana Pudding in December 2020 and the Billionaire Banana Pudding (contains brownies!) in January 2021. The Billionaire Banana Pudding was amazing! The added brownie was the perfect amount of chocolate to the mix! Cannot wait to try all of their flavors this year!

For my birthday last year, my sisters bought me the Carrot Cake from here and it was very good! It was moist and not overpowering and it was with a cream cheese frosting. There is something about having carrot cake with a cream cheese frosting (just like red velvet should have cream cheese frosting) that just completes it.
They had also purchased a Red Velvet Cupcake, but I didn’t like it as much because it wasn’t a cream cheese frosting. It was a very good cake itself though.
I still have to go back to try their cheesecakes, pies, and cookies!
Also, they are available on Postmates for the local Los Angeles area! They offer online ordering as well! Avoid the lines as much as possible.
Happy Eating!
XOXO,
Karmen
