As you all know, my boyfriend has Celiac’s Disease. One of the things he misses most are donuts. He loves donuts and can eat them all day, every day. When he was diagnosed, that all went out the window.
Finding good or even decent gluten free donuts is tough. They all either taste like cardboard or it has the texture of a cake. Not that cake is bad, but it’s not the same texture as donuts—that’s just the ugly truth.
So one day, he came across a place called Fōnuts!
Fōnuts are always baked, never fried; all are gluten free and some are vegan.
They. Are. Delicious. That’s an understatement. I am not gluten intolerant and I love these. Still not 100% close to what I know as a donut (texture and taste), but these are definitely ‘good quality, all-natural gluten free treats.’
My favorite is the Chocolate Chip Cookie followed by the Vanilla Latte. My boyfriend’s favorite is the Blueberry Earl Grey and the Double Chocolate.
These are the regular size. Prior to the Pandemic, they did carry mini versions of most, if not all, of the flavors. They also carry seasonal flavors as well (currently: pumpkin).
We usually visit the one on 3rd St. There’s street parking as well as free parking in the rear lot! They offered free valet parking prior to the Pandemic. Apple Pay is available in store, which is a huge plus for us! Delivery is also available through Postmates. They’re currently doing sidewalk pick up’s at the store. I recommend ordering them online through their website because once they sell out in the store, they close for the day.
If you are ever in Los Angeles, please do give them a try, whether you are gluten intolerant or not. Totally worth your while.
